Toy Story 5 Teaser Sets Woody and Buzz Versus a Tablet Computer
It has been 30 anniversary since the original Toy Story movie was released, establishing Pixar as a major animation studio and introducing viewers to beloved characters like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, offering a brief look into the storyline but keeping fans curious how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Toys
The preview shows the young girl — who received the toy collection when he left for college — receiving a latest plaything, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She acquires her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.
Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. However, the characters seem to view it as a danger coming to replace them, which it likely will.
Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
One thing the trailer doesn't touch on is what the sheriff is back with his friends in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a new adventure with Bo Peep (the actress), traveling with a carnival and helping prize toys locate loving owners.
Surely, the filmmakers will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him show up in the familiar setting unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, however. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have come back with Woody. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?
Continuity from the Last Installment
At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the prior film. The last thing the cowboy did before departing for his new life was pass his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), leaving her as the leader of the toy domain. In the teaser shows the badge attached to her outfit.
Hopefully she is remains the driving force among the toys.
Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
