Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has outscored Oscar Piastri at all of the last five race weekends.
The McLaren driver just pipped fellow driver and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the top spot in the closing stages of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who seized the points lead from Piastri by one point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, topped the Melbourne-born driver by a mere 0.023s.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the leading McLaren for most of the session before the sprint shootout scheduled for 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in realistic title contention, sitting 36 points behind behind Norris, was classified in 17th position as his team opted for a unique setup.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to have an incident, albeit lightly, when he rotated at corner four during the early running.
The Japanese slid over the curbs on exit before rotating through the run-off area, and was fortunate to avoid just a slight brush of the barrier.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also lost it, at the final moments of the practice, turning around through the fast downhill Mergulho corner approaching the final corner on to the main straight.
Hamilton finished practice in 19th, one place behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren drivers were well clear of the remaining drivers, with the German's car third fastest, 0.619secs off the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto ahead of Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
