I'll overwhelm 'serious boxer' Jake Paul - Anthony Joshua
Anthony Joshua will face the American YouTuber in an eight round fight which will be broadcast in real-time on Netflix.
British boxer Joshua said he will "overwhelm entirely" Jake Paul and "defeat" the American as the combatants confronted each other to build hype for next month's bout.
Former twice world title holder Joshua battles social media star turned fighter Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a massive uneven pairing - at Miami arena on December 19th.
Boxer's Mentality
"I'm going to injure his face and damage his physique. I'm here to prove my superiority," Joshua, 35 years old, declared.
"I will dominate him completely. That's the boxer's mindset.
"I intend to really want to injure him. That's my goal."
Respectful Interaction
In spite of these statements, a calm Joshua and internet personality Paul - normally recognized for his showmanship - were respectful and maintained decorum with each other.
Jake Paul instead attacked former Joshua's opponent Francis Ngannou and called him "a joke" after the Cameroonian declined a bout proposal.
Taking Aim at Fury
Joshua, meanwhile, targeted British opponent Tyson Fury - and refused a million-pound wager 'The Gypsy King' says he will place on a Paul win.
"[Paul] outshines Tyson Fury - he showed up," the boxer stated.
"I respect him for that."
Legitimate Fighter
In spite of stating he plans to hurt Jake Paul, Joshua refused to talk badly about his rival's boxing ability.
"Jake is a serious fighter," he remarked.
Jake Paul's History
Paul - who first rose to fame on the television network - has mostly boxed mixed martial artists or declining opponents since entering professional boxing.
He was defeated by British fighter Fury in 2023.
Financial Attraction
However, the inexperienced fighter is still one of the sport's biggest commercial attractions, regularly earning massive paydays.
Forecast and Belief
The 28 year old forecast a stoppage in rounds four or five and claimed he would derail the much-anticipated Joshua–Fury fight, which is apparently under discussion for 2026.
"It will be myself against Tyson Fury next year," Paul said.
Size Disparity
As the two fighters engaged in the usual stare-down, with their size difference on show, it highlighted just how surprising this whole event is - and how amazing it is that the fight is really going ahead.
